WELCOME NEW HEAD COACH

Iain Duncan is a 1987 graduate of Bowling Green State University where he helped BGSU to a CCHA Championships in 1983-1984 as well as the NCAA National Championship in 1983-1984 and Captained BGSU to a CCHA championships in 1986-1987. Iain is also a member of the Hall of Fame at BGSU. Iain’s professional career includes being with the Winnipeg Jets where he was named to the NHL All-Rookie team in 1988 and with the ECHL Toledo Storm where he helped the team win back-to-back Riley Cup Championships. He has coached at the junior ranks in the USHL and NAHL and the professional ranks. Iain holds his Master Coaching Certificate from USA Hockey.

Welcome to CHEROKEE HOCKEY

The entire organization is dedicated to improving and advancing our players to their maximum potential. Our mission statement remains unchanged since our inception in 1993 – to develop young men in the sport of hockey, to prepare them to play at a higher level in both college (Division I, II, or III) or Junior A level (Tier I or II). We are happy to report more than 150 former players have reached that goal with several making it to the professional level.

The Cherokee hockey team is proud that we have never had a losing season, and have never missed the league playoffs. We have represented the Central States Hockey League (CSHL) at the National Tournament seven (7) of the last twelve (12) years having won the National Tournament and also being the runner up.

Our coaching staff, who have many years of professional experience including the NHL, is dedicated to the task of teaching the hockey player to become a better more mature player who gives back to the community and becomes a model citizen. Former players contact us on a regular basis reporting their success in life. They have never forgotten their experience in Toledo and how it has helped them mold their lives.

Even though our players come to us from all parts of the United States and internationally, we believe our involvement with The Greater Toledo Amateur Hockey Association (GTAHA) is a positive step in the development of the local player.

We are grateful for the support of our many dedicated volunteers, sponsors, and fans. Without their enthusiasm and effort, we would not be able to offer a program of which we are justifiably proud.
