HOUSING A CHEROKEE PLAYER

Housing A Cherokee Player Can Be A Very Rewarding Experience

The Toledo Cherokee organization is recognized as one of the best hockey development programs in the United States. Our goal is to advance 16-20 year old players through our system and promote them to a higher level of hockey.

We recruit players from several states within the United States and Canada. The success of our program over the past several years has been exceptional:

1994/1995 Gold Cup Champions

1995/1996 CSHL League Champions

1996/1997 Gold Cup Champions and USA Hockey National Finalist

1997/1998 CSHL League Champions and National Champions

1998/1999 CSHL League Champions, Gold Cup Champions, USA Hockey National Finalist

2000/2001 USA Hockey National Finalist

2001/2002 Gold Cup Runner Up

Housing a Cherokee player can be a very rewarding experience. We have developed warm relationships with the players and their families. The housing parents are paid $200 a month per player to help offset the cost of an additional person in the household.

Players are required to do their own laundry, use their own phone card for calls, and respect household rules. They are also expected to obey the drug, alcohol and curfew policies that are set by the organization. We ask that the housing families support the player during his stay and respect the guidelines set forth by the Toledo Cherokee organization.

Most people that house hockey players want to be a part of helping someone fulfill their dream. Without good housing families, this opportunity of a lifetime would not be possible for these young men. We rely heavily on families in our community to provide a healthy family environment for these players during the hockey season, which starts at the end of August and runs through March.
